How to Play

• On PC use the arrow keys (or WASD); on mobile swipe the board to push all tiles in one direction.
• When two tiles with the same number collide they merge into one and the number doubles.
• Every move spawns a new tile (2 or 4) in an empty cell.
• When the board is full and no more merges are possible, it is game over. The goal is to make the 2048 tile.

2048 Strategy Tips

2048 is a game of strategy, not luck. The best-known approach is the "corner" strategy: keep your largest tile in one of the four corners (for example, bottom-left) and arrange the big numbers around it in a descending staircase. This creates a structure where large tiles naturally merge in order. There are three key principles. First, mainly use only two or three of the four directions, and press the direction that would pull the big tile away from its corner (up, in this example) only when you truly must. Second, always keep an empty cell so small tiles don't get stuck between big ones. Third, don't mash keys in a hurry; after each move check where the new tile appeared before deciding your next move. Just following these three rules gets you to 1024 without much trouble, and playing calmly you can reach 2048 and even 4096.
